Available Lite - Opening Day

Every summer my father and I have a contract. It's very simple. He has a need, as do I. His need is for his yard to be mowed all summer long. Mine is to attend all the Texas Longhorn home games at Darrel K. Royal Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas. There are exactly 6 home games that the Longhorns play and I am sure to miss at LEAST one due to bad scheduling of some wedding or "shower". (Please! all my friends . . . hurry up and get married or at least wait until after football season) There are close to 24 weeks of "yard season" and any yard day that is missed due to scheduling is immediately re-scheduled at a later date. I only wish I had this contract with Mac Brown!
Anyway you get the idea. It's actually a pretty good contract given that a set of season tickets can be around $500.00. This yard mowing exercise also gets me into a season of Ballet tickets. If you are married or in a serious relationship you can understand the value of these season tickets. I actually enjoy the ballet. It does give you a chance to put on some nice close, have a nice dinner and then go to a nice after party backstage to have a few glasses of free wine. . . oh and it keeps the little lady happy.
So here are some pictures for this weekend (08-03-05) at Daryl K. Royal Memorial Stadium where the Texas Longhorns hosted the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns to a game of the old pigskin. Final Score: Texas 60, Cajuns 3 . . .

Our seats, at the game, are in section 105 in the upper deck on the West side. The 105 section is about as close to the 50 yard line you can get. The seats are really great and the view is spectacular. Here the Longhorns are warming up for the game.

The international longhorn salute is pictured here. It's pretty amazing to watch down the rows as we all sing the Texas fight song. At one point the entire deck is saluting and singing, "Texas Fight, Texas Fight, Yeah Texas Fight"

Prior to the game the Showband of the Southwest, The Longhorn Marching Band enters the field from the North end and marches across the field to create the U and T insignia.

Everything IS bigger in Texas even our flag.

Another picture of the Texas flag in motion.

The Texas Longhorns enter the field with a roar from the crowd and smoke pumping out onto the field. . . .They could have paid for some art students scholarship with the money that they paid for that smoke machine. . . Put hey! There’s no full contact sculpture . . . but if there were . . . would 84,000 people show up to watch it? (Don't be bitter, I have a degree in Art. I'm allowed to "address the system!”)
