Available Lite - The Last Stand

Last Saturday, Mike D’alonzo and I went the last UT game of the 2005 season. Texas played Kansas University at DKR Memorial Stadium. It was senior day at the game so they announced the seniors as they came running out of the tunnel. It was a good game, but the season has been bitter sweet. Texas is playing so well that all the home games have been blowouts. The most difficult games have been away games like Ohio State and Oklahoma State; Interesting that both those universities are OSU. This was also the 50th anniversary of the hook’em sign. It's funny to think that it's only 50 years old. I just can't imagine UT without the sign. My dad said that he didn't remember using the sign when he was in school. It's pretty cool to have such a unique hand signal. It's not something the most schools have. SFA has a sign that you make by making a gun shape with your hands and use your pointer finger and the middle finger to form a two barrel gun. Then you chop your hand and say "Axe'm Jacks". It really doesn't look like your doing anything except ripping off the seminal’s.

The band did and excellent show. The Kansas University Band did Who songs, which both Mike and I found amusing. I Won't Get Fooled Again just did sound the same.

Since it was the 50th anniversary of the hook'em sign the band did this formation. It was really cool to see them make a formation that so easily looked like the sign. The Show Band of the Southwest had a great year. Their formations have gotten so much better. Unless you’re the Aggie Band, marching isn't that interesting. I like it when the band makes something from the formations and It’s even better when the spell something

Since the score was 47 to 0 at the half, most of the folks left by the end of the third quarter. Mike and I move down to the lower deck and watched a few plays from about row 10. It was cool to be that close, but almost too close. It was strange to smell the grass and see people faces. You don't get that experience from the upper deck. I walked down to the railing and snapped a few pics.

Since I was so close I had to take some pictures of the cheerleaders. . . I mean I had to
